The stars and cars from Britain’s biggest racing series will be tearing up the track at family festival CarFest North later this month.
And British Touring Car Championship legends Jason Plato, Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden – all past winners of the series – will be leading the way.
CarFest North, at Cheshire Oulton Park from Friday, July 31 to Sunday, August 2, is hosted by Radio 2 breakfast show presenter Chris Evans and along with sister event CarFest South has raised £3.5m for BBC Children in Need in just three years.
No less than 10 competitors from the 2015 BTCC grid will be renewing their rivalries during four high speed demonstrations being staged over the three-day extravaganza.
But 47-year-old Plato is the most successful with 92 wins to his name. Fresh from a double victory at Oulton Park last month, he said: “It’s going to be great fun. Chris has told me lots about these wonderful CarFests that he’s created but I’ve never been able to go before as our race dates have clashed.
“Thankfully that’s not the case this year, so I’m right up for a real blast and a bit of a party. It’s going to be a fantastic opportunity for us to promote the BTCC and I’m sure we’ll put on a fabulous show. I really can’t wait.”
As well as providing the CarFest crowds with entertainment on all three days, the BTCC boys will be around for regular autograph and ‘selfie’ sessions in the paddock.
Among this year’s attractions will be Chris Evans’ own ‘dirty dozen’ car collection, some demon dragsters, various rally models and F1 cars from the past.
Weekend tickets are completely sold out but there are still Friday tickets if you want to catch the BTCC stars on the circuit as well as live performances from the Boomtown Rats, Scouting for Girls and Primal Scream in the evening.
