Southside Johnny and The Asbury Jukes – Wait In Vain
In his pomp Southside Johnny had one of the most soulful, heartbreaking, kick-ass voices in rock music.
While his most successful albums from the mid-1970s featured principally songs penned by his producer and original band member Steve Van Zandt, Wait In Vain is from his fifth album The Jukes.
It was recorded shortly after the band was dropped by their record label and switched to Mercury. The album was a flop, but the song’s a belter.
