Skinny dipping with the SEAT Mii by MANGO
You could call it taking fashion to the limit – stripped naked by a colour.
Cars have always had paint names that conjure up visions of Caribbean sunsets or Pacific coral reefs, even if they are basically just red or blue.
But the Mii by MANGO special edition city car from SEAT trumps them all. It comes in an off-white shade called Nude.
It really is a case of handbags and gladrags for this version of the quirkily named Mii as its styling is straight off the catwalk.
The mini marvel, a collaboration between the Spanish carmaker and popular fashion company, costs £10,995 for the three-door version and £11,345 for five-door, making it the flagship addition to the Mii family.
And exclusive to the model is the option of either the Nude paintwork with dark grey alloys or a Deep Black metallic hue and silver wheels.
Privacy glass plus contrasting side trim detailing and door mirrors complete the look.
Inside, there’s leather and perforated alcantara upholstery with contrast piping and stitching, as well as branded door sills, floor mats and key fobs.
As for equipment, the Mii by MANGO comes with remote central locking, electric windows, air-con and Isofix anchoring points.
And SEAT’s Portable System Live adds sat-nav, Bluetooth hands-free connectivity and audio streaming.
The tested model included a Style Pack, with panoramic glass sunroof and front fog lights, as a £790 option, along with Safety Assist (£200) and DAB radio at £175.
That bumped the price up to a princely £12,510, a far cry from the entry level Mii 1.0 60PS version at £8,195.
That said, the MANGO edition’s launch coincided with ESC, tyre pressure monitoring and Hill Hold Control becoming standard on all Mii trim levels, so buyers are getting more technology for their lolly across the board.
Power comes via the higher output 75PS version of the Volkswagen group’s three-cylinder 1.0-litre engine with five-speed manual gearbox.
Its headline figures are 0-62mph in 13.2 seconds, 108g/km of CO2 and Combined fuel economy of 60.1mpg.
The Mii is one of those cars that begs you to drive it, an urban micro machine that’s packed with style as well as boasting the low running costs so important to the modern motorist.
You climb in and wonder where all the cabin space came from, well in the front anyway, and get an instant feelgood factor from the bright, breezy design.
The cheaper models do the job and do it well – but if you want to stand out from the other city slickers, the Mii by MANGO cuts the cloth.
