NOTHING like painting an old car on a new one.
That’s exactly what Fiat has done though with its new Fiat 500 Ron Arad special edition.
It is instantly recognisable by the outline graphic of an original 1957 Fiat 500 model superimposed on each side of the car’s bodywork.
Only up for grabs in metallic black with white graphics, just 200 examples of the vehicle are being sent to the UK.
Price is £16,000 and the only engine available is the Italian brand’s 69bhp 1.2-litre petrol unit.
As the name suggests, the newcomer was developed in partnership with London-based industrial designer and artist Ron Arad, who is a massive fan of the original 500.
One of his most popular works, called In Reverse, comprises six compressed original Fiat 500 cars.
In addition to the black metallic paintwork with stuff like white graphics and matching white mirrors, the special edition also comes with a glass sunroof, black leather seats with ivory trim, a seven-inch TFT instrument panel, Blue&Me connectivity, leather steering wheel with remote controls, front fog lights and 16-inch alloy wheels.
Buyers will also get a 1:18-scale miniature of their car.
